Intermittent fasting, in all its various permutations, has become a fad,
but what does it really do?
Well, research on intermittent fasting still leaves much to wonder about. There were several studies this past year showing metabolic gains and reduction of biomarkers associated with diabetes after intermittent fasting. One showed weight loss. The studies were small, and a couple of other studies concluded either that it had no major effects on weight loss or that simply reducing food intake was a better way to lose weight.
