I’m so excited to talk to you about my smoothies. I can’t remember when I started drinking smoothies, but for as long as I can remember they have been part of my day, especially as the weather gets warmer. They are portable, refreshing, and can be made a few hours in advance. Smoothies are great for workouts, too; I’ll have half before my workout and save the other half for when I’m done. I’ll often make a double batch of my smoothie on Friday mornings so I can have one for breakfast and save the rest for later in the day when things get hectic. Instead of noshing on kugels, my smoothie is ready to go without having to get anything dirty.
I was stoked to contribute my favorite smoothie recipes here, but when asked to share some of the nutritional benefits as well, I had to concede that although I may eat a pretty healthy diet, I’m no dietitian. Luckily, my friend Esti Lichtenstein, a dietitian in training and a great resource for all my health questions and recipes, will help fill you in on all the health details, as well as share two of her favorite smoothie recipes (which I’ve been making on repeat since we started working on this article).
